Which babies/ children
need referral?

any child dependant on a tracheotomy deserves a chance to decannulate, which can be easy or very complex
- any child with any form of noisy breathing from birth or later on, at rest or triggered
- A child with increased work of breathing struggling to feed and/or turning blue
- A child who coughs and/aspirates during feeds
- Sleep disordered breathing with/without snoring -with/without pauses at night and with/without mouth breathing
- Child with voice changes
- Unexplained chronic cough or wheeze not responding to asthma treatment
- Concerning drooling with coughs, affecting feeding and quality of life
- Large tonsils affecting breathing with/without recurrent infections
- Syndromic children with craniofacial malformations are most likely to present with multiple levels of obstruction
- Any child with history of intubation is likely to have airway issues
